PlayStation 3 and Wii blindsided by Xbox 360

The run up to Christmas 2006 was positively awash with little more than ‘PlayStation 3 this’ and ‘Wii that’, and, quite naturally given the hype, all eyes were turned on both Sony and Nintendo as closely-situated hardware launches exploded forth. Yet, what of Microsoft as the sales figures for Wii and PlayStation 3 began spinning?
